I have 2 PCs at work, one with older version of Notepad++ (6.1.7) and one with newer version (6.5.3) and I use it frequently to quickly compare pieces of code or any other strings (I use WinMerge or Total Commander for larger compares).

download compare plugin

I played with the setting, compared them on both PC, played with Clickable links settings in preferences but to no avail. I can't just install old version of the Notepad++ because it is controlled/blocked from corporate.Does anybody know what am I missing and how to bring the functionality back?

After that I got it working by manually installing the Compare Plugin Version 1.5.6.2 (Download: -compare.sourceforge.net/).Just copy the "ComparePlugin.dll" into the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Notepad++\plugins" directory.

I have 6.6.9, the latest version, and I could not find any way to change it. I use NPP very infrequently as I mostly use TextPad. It too has a built in compare tool, but it's very rudimentary. Beyond Compare is the diff tool I use, and I almost never use the built in. Have you considered making the switch completely to WinMerge?

finally, I tried installing from PluginsAdmin (apparently that's what plugin manager is replaced within new notepad++ versions), and it restarts automatically during installation, but i still cannot see compare plugin listed...

i discovered, thanks to this thread (last post) that based on initial installation selection (which i think i just did default installation whatever options are selected automatically), i found the plugins folder in %APPDATA%

Or another fix is to disconnect from your company intranet, connect to the internet via wifi or using your mobile phone usb tethering. Then try to install the plugin, it will work. It's because np++ domain is blocked by your network administrator

The inclusion of sophisticated editing tools, user-defined style options, and support for dozens of plugins is the icing on the cake. Despite all these, Notepad++ doesn't come with a diff tool to let you compare files.

If your Notepad++ doesn't have Plugins Admin, and you're reluctant to reinstall the program, you can manually install the Compare plugin. In that case, skip this step and move on to the final part of the next step.

You can use the Plugins Admin to install, update, or remove plugins. A revamped version came into effect in version 7.6 and above. It's better if you update Notepad++ to get the best possible experience.

As of now, you can download the latest iteration of this plugin (version 2.0.2) from the Compare plugin's GitHub. This particular release is compatible with Notepad++ 8.2.2 and later. If you're using the older version of Notepad++ and have no plan to upgrade the app, use version 2.0.1. Both 32-bit and 64-bit versions are available.

The Compare plugin will now put the files side by side and highlight their differences. You can set any open file as the reference with Compare > Set as First to Compare.

The Notepad++ Compare plugin offers many features similar to other diff tools used for file comparison. Navigate to Compare > Settings to explore the settings you can tweak.

Notepad++ is a feature-packed code and text editor app, but it lacks a compare feature. The good news is that you can customize Notepad++ to any level depending on your needs and expand it with plugins.

The Compare plugin is a solid example that demonstrates the power of plugins. The plugin adds the absent comparison feature to Notepad++, allowing you to compare and analyze your files. With the Compare plugin, Notepad++ becomes an even more comprehensive and versatile tool for your text and code editing endeavors.

Thanks to this plugin, your customers will be able to compare in a simple and efficient way products on sale in your shop, analyse their main features in a single table and understand immediately what is just right for them, without having to examine each single product page in search for the information they are looking for.
Making selection process easier means making purchasing process quicker and pushing your customers to purchase in the shortest possible time.

With YITH Color, Image & Label Variation Swatches for WooCommerce plugin you can show all your product variations such as colors, sizes, shapes etc. as selectable color swatches, labels or even with custom images. The customer will be able to pick their favorite variation right from the Shop page and other archive pages. The plugin also allows splitting variations of the same product and show them as separate items on the Shop and archive pages.

Combining the two products allows you to compare their single variations as if they were separate products.

Using these two plugins combined allows you to add the "Compare" button to the quick view of each product, offering users the chance to add products to the compare table without having to change their current view.

Cubase has a quite good loudness meter already, however it is hard-coded for the output only. It would probably not be that hard to do a pluginversion of the same, preferable also with a gain control.

Comparing your audio to a reference commercial track is essential for every mixing and mastering engineer. Of course you can do that in your host, but the workflow is what matters here. And it cannot be any easier. Press one button and the plugin quickly crossfades between your track and whatever track you choose. Press another one to choose a different track. Or compare the sound at several different stage of your mastering chain for example, each click a different comparison.

Louder music makes you think it sounds better. It lets you feel spectral and spatial balance incorrectly. It lets you ignore acoustic errors hidden under the loud wall of sound.
But the plugin can help you avoid that! It can automatically make the reference tracks match the loudness of your own track. With MCompare you don't need to doubt your senses anymore. If your audio sounds better, it really will be better, not just louder.

How many times did you spend hours working on your project and just when you felt it's perfect, you took a break and when you listened to it later you were horrified? That's because your ears fooled you somewhere along the road.
MCompare lets you compare your master to multiple stages in your chain, the dry mix for starters. It will compensate for any latency and match the loudness, so you will really be comparing the sonic qualities of your master and your ears won't be able to deceive you! So when you start doing something wrong, you will know quickly enough, in one click to be precise.

MCompare is the only plugin that lets you compare your master to the chosen reference tracks, dry mix, different stages of your mastering chain and even different versions of your mastering chain. All in a single instance, where everything is one click away. It just cannot be any easier.

Is there any tool to compare two different plugin files (esp, esl, esm) to show the differences? I'm looking at comparing two different versions so I can reimplement or at least identify changes to plugin replacers.

I can swear I saw compare options somewhere but can't find it now. Maybe I can rename one of the files and load both in xEdit to look for differences that way if nothing else but wanted to ask if anyone knows of a better way.

Edit: There it is, right in the xEdit context menu under "compare" which can compare with a file not already loaded. I'd still like to know if there's a better way like maybe a xEdit script or utility.

I was looking for tools to compare mods to extract changes but the comparison and delta patch options in the current version of xEdit seems to work fine. I'd still be interested in knowing if there are others.

The Answer is simple, at some point Plugin Admin was disabled in Notepad++ for security reasons, but it is re-introduced later in newer version of Notepad++ which solved the installation problem. That said, the answer in the article is still valid if you manage to do it manually or eventually as system administrator you want to add plugins to multiple machines.

All the essential settings of a standard Product Comparison Plugin are available here. You can choose a Compare Page for the Compare Table and also choose the fields to be shown in the table. Besides, there are various button settings, such as Compare Button Text, Compare Added Button Text, etc. Furthermore, there are options to show the compare button both in the product list and single product page and enable or disable Open Popup.

Finally, this impressive product comparison plugin is fully user-friendly, well-documented, and entirely responsive. Try Ever Compare Plugin to compare between different products on your web page like a pro!
