The slide-in animation for your following pokemon has been removed temporarily (the default Pokeball animation is used instead) for this work-around to prioritise playability until the authors of Following Platinum fix the root issue.
If your team doesn't fare well against Gardenia or Aaron, Aerodactyl is probably the best choice for the short-term. If you feel confident about Gardenia and Aaron, consider Armaldo or Bastiodon depending on your current roster. Go for Rampardos if you want big numbers. If you have a Drizzle Blastoise, trying for Swift Swim Omastar/Kabutops/Armaldo is a decent choice (I Rez all of the pokemon and then choose them lol).
