Hey @Mirek. When you reinstalled the Ring app, did you reboot your phone in between removing the app and reinstalling it? This can be an important extra step to take, as rebooting your phone in between the remove and re-add will clear the cache of data saved onto your phone, which may be causing it to still save the old tone. If you could, please try the removal of the app, reboot of your phone (turn it off/on) and then reinstall the app. After this, please try to save the tone and see if the Chime plays the new tone on motion alerts or dings (if you have a Doorbell).
I do want to delete or block the contact I just want there phone calls to be silenced when they call. They have a feature to hide alerts in the messages but I want to silence the contact when they call not block them. In previous versions, you were able to use none as a ringtone, now only alerts such as voicemail, text tone, or email, etc have the none option.
I want the user to be able to select a notification ringtone for my app. I have a custom sound file (an .mp3 file placed in /raw) that I want to be the default notification ringtone. I save/get the chosen ringtones uris in/from the Shared Preferences this way:
My issue seems to be with the EXTRA_RINGTONE_EXISTING_URI line. When the user picks a system ringtone and comes back to the picker, the ringtone is correctly checked. But when the user picks 'none' or 'default notification sound' (my custom sound) and comes back to the picker, nothing's checked.
Everything else in my code (not shown here) is ok - when I pick any ringtone (including the custom one), the sound is correctly assigned to my notifications. When I pick 'none', no sound is played. That means the correct URIs are being saved to SharedPref.
I wonder if this community can help me! I have had my Samsung galaxy S8 for several years and I love it. It's always on silent mode and so never makes a sound unless I'm playing multimedia or it vibrates lightly when I get a call. But recently something must have changed. Several times a day the phone makes a sound like a notification alert. Everytime it does it I go into notifications trying to track down the culprit but there is never any log of recent notifications. I've checked in exceptions too and nothing. I also checked the card payment feature as I heard that can cause sounds and I do keep my debit card in my phone case but that was turned off and I tested by taking my card out of the case and it still makes the sound occasionally. Multimedia volume is on (and I want to keep it that way as I am sure the sound will go away if I reduce this volume but that's a workaround and I need to find the source of this sound!) All other volumes (Bixby, call, notifications, system) are at zero. I'm at my wits end you guys! Does anyone know how I might be able to find out what's causing this mystery sound? Thanks in advance!
Hiya - I don't have the advanced options when I go into settings>>>notifications unfortunately. I can see all the apps listed there and can do show more and sort by recent but alas nothing claims to have been sending me a notification anytime close to when the sound happens on my phone. It's sort of a soft "Bing bong" - really not sure I'm describing it well though lol!
We are close to the launch of the Nothing Phone 2, and the company says we will see the sequel to its original artsy bargain phone on July 11, 2023. Until then, even Nothing Phone 1 owners have something to look forward to when the new phone launches, thanks to reunited Swedish DJ supergroup Swedish House Mafia. For its most recent device tease, Nothing has teamed with the DJs to showcase new ringtone and light pattern possibilities.
In a tweet to followers, DJ Sebastian Ingrosso, one third of the DJ team-up, posted a video showing how his sounds and effects will be used on a new Glyph Composer tool. Glyphs are what Nothing calls the unique pattern of LED lights on the back of the Nothing (1) phone, and this confirms that the Nothing (2) will have a similar pattern, though perhaps not the same.
The Glyph Composer seems to operate like a standard beat mixer, where you tap on a symbol to activate the corresponding sound while your track is recorded in time. The demonstration video shows off far more glyph lights on the new phone than we have on our current Nothing Phone 1, but otherwise the design and any extreme changes are unclear.
We expect to learn a lot more about the new Nothing Phone 2 in the coming days, and possibly more about pricing, since rumors peg the new phone as being much more expensive than the decidedly bargain-focused original. CEO Pei himself seemingly disputed this pricing leak on Twitter, though his playful nature leaves his actual meaning vague.

The Nothing Phone 1 trades in beefy specs for flashy and even compelling design and, for the price one pays, we'd say it even gives some flagship phones a run for their money. Those playful LEDs housed in the back are certainly quite the design feat, but they also serve some real functionality. One of those functions is something that actually turns your phone into a music-synced light show and while it's hidden away for one reason or another, you can definitely find it. All you need to say is the magic word.
As developer Dylan Roussel details in a tweet chain (via 9to5Google), you first need to head over to the Contacts app to create a contact named "Abra." Next, open up the Settings app and navigate to Glyph Interface > Ringtones > "Add a Contact". Select any ringtone for the contact you previously created then and hit "Save."
The music visualization feature was first spotted along with a host of other stuff within a firmware build that was leaked a day before the Nothing Phone 1's launch. Eager observers naturally expected the feature to arrive with the phone, but that didn't actually happen. As for why, we don't really know. Perhaps Nothing felt it wasn't polished enough for NothingOS yet or maybe something in there was just plain broken.
Nothing showed off a video on Twitter in collaboration with Swedish House Mafia, an electro-house music supergroup, which gave us a better look at how the back of the phone has been redesigned from the previous model.
The Nothing Phone 2 is being positioned as the company\u2019s first flagship phone, which means it will likely cost more than the first phone\u2019s \u00A3399 price tag (around $498). It\u2019ll be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 chipset and should improve upon many of the elements of Nothing Phone 1, such as better waterproofing.
This is the most common reason for phones not to ring and the easiest to fix. You may have just accidentally put the phone on silent without realizing it. If you can still hear other media, like videos or music, this is likely the issue.
Another common ringtone issue is your phone accidentally being set in Airplane Mode. It's pretty easy not to realize your phone is in Airplane Mode for a short time as it will simply appear as if no one is calling you. If you're also having trouble accessing the internet when not on Wi-Fi, or you can't send or receive text messages, this is likely the issue. Here's how to turn Airplane Mode off.
Do Not Disturb is a phone feature you turn on expressly when you don't want it to ring. While you can set it on a timer, you can also toggle it on and leave it on until you're ready to turn it off manually. Naturally, this feature is another common culprit of user-related issues with phone ringtones.
