Hi Alan,
Thanks again for a lot of work on SparkSDR.
I run a variety of receivers with a variety of software. Only SparkSDR is NOT adding its version number to the uploads for decoded spots in various modes. That would be a nice additional feature. See the below list, only showing what I am running.
SparkSDR >> version .18 and .33 but not showing
WD_3.0.5 = wsprdaemon
PavelD = my added software name to the Red Pitaya Pavel Demin upload curl command
2.2.156 = JTDX
v1.3.0-dev = OpenWebRx

Thanks for thinking about this.

Hi,
looking at the code it should be sending SparkSDR to wsprnet and SparkSDR vCurrentVersion to pskreporter.  I can add the current version to the wsprnet one, where are you expecting pskreporter to show the version? maybe there is more than one option to send it, I do know it shows in list of software used so it must be partially working.

My question was mostly in regard to wsprnet reports Alan. For pskreporter I would not know, it is shown when you click the receiver location but that would be just any of the spots decoded and not hold through time.

On pskreporter there is a statistics page that is showing the software + version + number of spots by that combo but it already shows the SparkSDR versions

Hi, I can't find where it is shown on wsprnet, have you got a screen shot?

Hi Alan

One of the fields in a wsprnet database download (https://www.wsprnet.org/drupal/downloads) is
"Version
Version string of the WSPR software in use by the receiving station. May be bank, as versions were not reported until version 0.6 or 0.7, and version reporting is only done through the realtime upload interface (not the bulk upload)."

I assume 'bank' should read 'blank"!

The software version is also exposed by wspr.rocks. Of course SparkSDR version numbers would fragment your share in the pie chart...

Hi Mike and Erwin,
thanks Mike, I remember being a little cautious about putting anything too long here as I did not find any documentation of how long the field could be.
Erwin is this the version you mean or is something missing somewhere else?  I could add the version to appear here but should probably ask the wsprnet people to check I don't send something too long.

No worries, 10 positions would be good and long enough. I am one of the admins for wsprnet.org and will not scream at you ;-) anyway.
This is indeed the location I look at my versions that have decoded and uploaded spots.
Thanks again.

I use these lines to add a version name to my Red Pitaya uploads (from a bash .sh script on the Red Pitaya Linux environment):

VERSION=PavelD

curl -sS -m 30 -F version=$VERSION -F allmept=@$ALLMEPT -F call=$CALL -F grid=$GRID http://wsprnet.org/post > /dev/null

Hi Erwin,
if I append the version to what I already do we get something like SparkSDR_2.0.930 which is 16 characters, I would prefer to keep the SparkSDR bit.  It is valuable for other people to identify the software so they can report issues.

Yes I certainly understand that bit Alan. As can be seen from the list of all the other sw versions, nobody else does name the base software clearly. The formatting of the version "name" somehow leads to the originating sw. I also realize showing the full name is an advertisement due to the quality of your software. Spark20930 is not as nice of course but it would fulfil the need to show that SparkSDR is continuously being worked on and updated, something that is not being shown when "only" SparkSDR is visible.
