Alan,

I have created a VFO Knob from a USB Audio Knob using the

It works nicely with Windows based software including the windows version of SPARKSDR Version 2.0.8.15 running on my Mac under Parallels, where it works with Thetis, SDR Radio Console, PiHPSDR or LinHPSDR.

But without running windows under Parallels and just running SparkSDR Version 2.0.8.9 natively under Mac OS Catalina I can't get the VFO Knob to function in SparkSDR.

I don't have any idea where to start. It would be nice for it to work natively under OSX. Is there some code that could be altered and uploaded into the VFO Knob to making it compatible with SparkSDR natively under OSX.

hi jpw,
that is an interesting solution, from a quick skim it appears to behave as a mouse wheel device, I'm not sure why it does not work on macos, does it do anything on mac?.  The ideal would be to reprogram it to work as a midi device but I'm not sure how easy that would be. An alternative would be to replace the pcb with a pro micro arduino or teensy as midi is easy on them, maybe you could use some of the new low latency keyer code or my sparkey code.

Alan and ...

It does work under MacOS!!  I discovered that I have a USB-C extender issue.

to make my docking smoother connecting peripherals. It seems that usb 2.0 devices do not connect reliably.
Changing the USB-C extender makes is work correctly.

Maybe some RF has been where it shouldn't have been.

It now works under MacOS and Under Windows.
And with that mouse wheel, it makes tuning smoother.

There is a way to do the same thing with the volume knob, without having to
do the soldering or ic programming:

I really don't think Google is deleting any of the posts.
I think you don't see your response in email when you send it to the group.  But the group does see the email.

Hi Josh,
if you look at google groups through the web interface you will see them listed as deleted with no content.  What happens is google marks some as spam and twice a week tells me about them, I then approve them and emails are sent but they are not added to the web list.
