What is the best virtual audio cable? For SparkSDR and connection to JTDX, WSJT-X and MSHV? - VAC - VB-Cable (VB-Audio) - Voicemeeter Banana Best setup?

Hi Ulf,

I don't really have an opinion but I tend to use the built in modes for most of my operation. I do test with VAC and VB-Cable and both work for me. Setting them to 48Khz avoids many problems and there was a comment on the HL2 group recently which I think found that using the same cable for in and out had issues (not quite sure, I read the post very quickly).   Others who do more operation  through vac may have more useful experience.

I use SparkSDR with a pair of VB-Cables set at 48KHz. Works perfectly with WSJT-X for FT8. I couldn't get a single cable to work.

WSJT-X has the advantage of resizable windows, good logic for running FT8, colour coded display, links to logging program and probably others. It would be nice if you could duplicate running WSJT-X within Spark but then what would be the point. Better to develop Spark in other areas.

I use SparkSDR built in WSPR and CW a lot. It would be nice to add WSPR frequency to the saved settings but thanks Alan for a software that works out of the box.

Hi Alan,

The single vb-audio cable gave me grief. When switching to transmit, the first fraction of a second would be the last fraction of a second heard from the receiver. My understanding is that the buffer dumps what remains down the cable in the opposite direction before sending the wsjt-x tones. Buying the vb-audio 2 cable download solved the problem!

It would have taken me forever to figure that one out on my own... 😳  Good knowledge to have!
