Hi all.

I've been using an RSP1a for a few years with SparkSDR and SparkSDR-2 on my Windows 11 i7 NUC with no problems but now although they find the RSP1a it will not function. The log shows :

[2025-10-20 22:08:17.515] [sc] [error] sdrplay_api_Init sdrplay_api_Fail
[2025-10-20 22:08:25.344] [sc] [error] sdrplay_api_Uninit sdrplay_api_NotInitialised

The same RSP1a runs fine with SDRUno and SDR-Connect on the same PC.

Any advice gratefully received please.

Thanks for the quick reply Alan. As far as I can see by looking at the docs folder in the Program Files/SDRPlay/API directory it's v3.15.

Hey,

Installing SdrUno first solve many problems...
so you are sure all dll,api and so one are on the right place and installed..

Thanks Luc. I already had SDR Uno and SDR Connect running on the PC and SparkSDR was working with the RSP1a before the problem arose, and SDR Console can still use the RSP1a so I assume that the API is functioning. I have removed and reinstalled SDR Uno but the problem persists.

I'd like to remove and reinstall SparkSDR but I'm not sure of the correct way to do this as it doesn't appear as a program in the Windows Uninstall Program option.

Hi Chris,
can you check in the C:\Users\##YOUR NAME HERE ##\AppData\Roaming\m0nnb\SparkSDR2\sdrplay\ folder and let me know any sub folders and their contents.
What windows version are you using?

Hello Alan,

I’ve checked and in that folder I have two sub-folders  “ver3.11” and “ver3.15”.

The “ver3.11” sub-folder contains just one file which is “sdrplay_api_i2.dll”

The “ver3.15” sub-folder contains twelve files. They are “sdrplay_api_i2” to “sdrplay_api_i13” inclusive.

The PC is an Intel NUC with an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8559U CPU @ 2.70GHz (2.71 GHz) and it is running Windows 11 Home version 25H2 which has been regularly updated.

I hope that is useful.

Hi Chris,
this https://www.sparksdr.com/download/SparkSDR.2.0.991.win64.zip should capture an error code for why the sdrplay dll fails to load, if you get a moment please run it and send me the logs.

Hi Chris,
I've been testing on fully updated win 11 and it is working for me, I did find one issue where USB mode didn't work but others did. I got it working again by deleting the USB folder from settings/mode_defaults.  I think it had stored settings for a different SDRPlay model that the current one I'm using did not support, I shall look into preventing this this.

Hello Alan,

I've downloaded that 2nd link but when I unzip and run it the "Help" icon shows it as being 991 and not 993 and the files all look the same too. So one basic question before I go any further - is there a formal update process to delete previous versions or a formal uninstall process to remove the program completely or can I just delete the directories and start from scratch?
