Duplicate alarms

Hi
Out of the blue, my conflict notifier told me it wished to modify 6000+ records in my calendar. Reviewing what the changes were, I saw that it wanted to add two alarms to each record. I said no, as I didn't much want that. I then replaced MobileMe with the info from the computer, which seemed to be clean. I am now cleaning up records, backing up as I go along, but am curious where this came from.
I have macintoshes.
