I am planning on purchasing the new Motorola Droid but had a couple of
questions regarding this spanning sync software. Currently within
iCal I have several labeled calendars contained within iCal (i.e.
Miscellaneous, Medical, Work, Days Off). Additionally, I have a
Macbook and iMac which utilizes MobileMe to keep everything in sync
between the machines.

Will each of the labeled calendars be able to be synced to google? I
am just confused because I see other posts where people are pulling in
calendars from other sources, or I may be wrong. Lastly, will I be
able to keep both machines synced utilizing this software?

Thanks,
Steve

Steve,

It works for me to an HTC Hero (running android too)!

Spanning Sync synchronises each of my iCal calendars and my address
book to equivalent calendars and address book in Google. Then the
Android (telephone) sync system automatically makes sure my phone is
synchronised too.

Meanwhile, MobileMe syncs between my Macs.

Hope this helps
Andy

So could I get rid of MobileMe and use Spanning sync on both the
macbook and imac to keep everything in sync? I believe that when you
purchase spanning sync you can use it on multiple computers w/o a
license issue. If I could get rid of MobileMe that would save a
couple of $$.

Thanks!

Steve,

I can't speak about the license issue. Someone else will have to
answer about using spanning sync on multiple macs to one Google
account.

However, MobileMe syncs more than just calendar and address book; and
spanning sync doesn't synchronise absolutely everything. For example,
MobileMe will also sync safari bookmarks, ToDos and RSS feeds.
Spanning Sync doesn't seem to transfer birthdays or anniversaries
between the Apple contacts and Google contacts; nor does it get groups
right -- so you'd lose those between your two macs.

Like they say: "horses for courses".

I hope this helps.
