We have a club float fly coming up in June so figured it would be fun to put something together for the event. A build article was published in MAN in ’89 by Nick Ziroli for this plane and I just thought it was one of the neatest looking float planes ever. It was originally designed in ’46 for free flight ROW then Nick scaled it up for RC. It’s about the size of our SPA pattern planes and this one sports an inverted OS .55 in the nose.
A friend suggested that the name may have come from a forties song about Alexander the Swoose. Half swan, half goose – Swoose. If you like the music from that era here’s a link to the song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8gVgOV-G6Y

There also appears to be a Vultee XP-54 "Swoose Goose" aircraft.
