Hello all,

I am newbie to Python and SPADE. I have to install spade as part of a
Multi-agent class in my college.
I read the very brief and sparce help documentation for SPADE. I
installed python 2.7.3 as required.
I ran "python configure.py" OK but when I run the command "python
runspade.py" I get one or another error. First I go an error that it
could module xmppd.xmppd is not found. So I searched a lot and found
xmpppy module and installed then after that I got another error. For
what I have seen so far it seems that even if I fix this error I will
get another error.

SO CAN SOMEONE TELL ME ALL THE REQUIREMENTS AND DEPENDENCIES I NEED TO
INSTALL AND STEP BY STEP GUIDE TO INSTALL THEM AND SPADE.

I would be very very very grateful.

Thank you,

Marina

Hello,

I'm student and for my project in one of my classes I have to implement negotiation between two agents. It's not very tought work to do, but I have a problem with installation SPADE on my computer. I'm using Windows 7 OS, after installing Python, I downladed SPADE compatible with Windows 7 from http://spadeagents.blogspot.com/2010/06/windows-compatible.html. When unpack and start the file runspade.py, program started but it does not  want to actually start SPADE, it' just doing Picture1

So could anyone help me with this "not starting Spade" problem?  Thank you! :)

Hello   Marina,

The last release of SPADE has unintentionally broken the windows compatibility. We are working on fixing this as soon as possible. A revision may be soon available, I hope.
Meanwhile, you can try it in linux or MacOSX if you have the chance.
BTW, whenever possible, I recommend to install spade using the pip tool: pip install SPADE (in windows: pip.exe install SPADE)

All the best,
Javi Palanca

Hello Javi,

thank you for very fast answer. It's help me knowing that it doesn't work on Windows OS. I'll have to installed on Ubuntu then. Thank you once again for help.

Regards,

Marina.

Hi Javi,

I'd like to ask whether it's working on windows now with the SPADE-2.2.1 version or still no chance!

Thanks!
Ahmed

Hi Ahmed.
Not sure, I do not work with Windows since some decades ago, so I’m not able to test it :(
If you test it and works fine or raises an error let us know :)

Javi

Hi Javi,
Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately it's not working so far with me, attached are the installation statuses using both the pip method and the build-install method. Thing is, I can't find a definitive answer whether someone developed it already for windows or only for iOS and UNIX..
What do you recommend for someone who's really a beginner in programming!

Best,
Ahmed

Hello again,

I guess with this spade-master library, it's working fine!

Thing is, after finishing installation then running configure.py and runspade.py I got this message saying that something went on wrong but I can't understand it; please advice!

Thanks again :)
