Adidas just keep on pumping out stellar boots all over the place for every position on the field. The adidas X 16+ Purechaos is no exception to that. Adidas are boldly taking their cleats to the future with some features from the past.

The Purechaos features a lace cover that will give any player a much cleaner striker on the ball, which will also aid in the controlling of the ball. The Purechaos also features a synthetic Techfit upper that is thin and textured with the NSG technology we are all falling in love with on the adidas boots to aide in grip in all weather conditions. The Purecut sock system helps the near laceless design on the boots perfect fit and comfort. We here at The Instep are finding it almost unbelievably easy to slip into these boots designed for playmakers. On the underside of the boot we find the famous Sprintframe that we have all come to know and love from classic adidas F50 boots with the Purechaos twist to really assist in the traction you can receive when making sharp cuts and turns in a match.

To say I am a soccer fan would be an understatement. I love the beautiful game and more specifically I love watching the Premier League! I am a die-hard Manchester City fan (yes, before the massive takeover). Winning the league two of the last three seasons is a pretty great feeling (also watching United fall)! I am working on my Marketing and Business management double major at Lipscomb University at the moment. Even with school, my free time is spent reviewing boots and writing for the Instep!

Geared towards players who can change the game in a second, adidas introduced the X16+ PURECHAOS as a feature boot for this summer. What better platform to showcase their latest advanced release than at Euro 2016, Copa America and the Olympics. And they set an immediate statement thanks to the chrome upper finish, a head turner that is worthy of gaining player and fan attention as it streaks across pitch.

This one comes as somewhat of a semi-surprise release. A fresh take on the modern X series from adidas, and this one has an even more interesting twist with a lace covering synthetic NSG upper. There are also some other modifications through the ankle collar that should take this one to the next level. One of my key areas of interest is with the general fit and how tight they are going to be across the foot.

Yes, tucked under the top upper layer is a lace, so technically this is not a laceless boot. Could you take this lace out and wear the boots? Yes, absolutely. The nature of the upper construction and TechFit collar ensures they are tight around your foot. The laces ensure you can really control the final fit, tightening them an extra bit just in case you need it.

Out of the box, the plate itself is decently stiff with some solid spring back. Over the first few wears, it loosened up nicely through the forefoot while keeping solid support through the midfoot spine region.

Then there is the general cut, with adidas taking a Primeknit 2.0 style approach around the heel. This provides a little extra protection to the Achilles, with a higher cut covering more of the area. Thankfully, it has a curved design that sits flush with your heel contours and sits very comfortably.

While the ACE series has received a next-generation edition, the X will have to wait until the new year before adidas take it in for a 17.1 service. A much more reserved vibe than the bright Solar Red edition of the 'Speed of Light' Pack worn by all adidas X players to kick off the current domestic football season, the 'Red Limit' colourway blends into a dark black heel and Purecut sock system.

Laced up and covered up, the adidas X 16 Purechaos remains unchanged tech wise, with all aspects of that covered in our on-pitch review. Warning red flagging up the chaos, it's a colourway that will take place on pitch from this weekend onwards, through December, with your usual X suspects sporting them. That includes, Luis Suarez, Gareth Bale (if he gets fit) and Diego Costa to name just a few. Never-mind a white Christmas, it's a red one at adidas HQ.

They'll certainly be added fire in the belly of the Welshman to lift the Champions League in his homeland and adidas will reap the rewards if his Real Madrid side do manage to retain their Champions of Europe crown in Cardiff in June. As for the boots that Bale, Suarez and Thomas Muller will be wearing when the knockout stages fire up this week, the adidas X16+ Purechaos leans on the Welsh emblem for its dragon design, a theme that is replicated on the ACE 17+ Purecontrol and 2017 Finale Match Ball.

Tech wise, the X 16+ Purechaos is untouched from previous colourways, although aesthetically its a different approach entirely and one that packs an added punch of creativity. The limited edition Dragon Pack graphics create the most experimental visuals yet on the lightweight speed silo. Works for us. Over to you Gareth.
