Spack mailing list is now only for announcements

Hi all,

Traffic on the mailing list has dwindled in recent years, and maintainers don’t always get to questions here in a timely manner. The list has also recently become inundated with spam.  In the interest of directing users to the places they can get high-quality help with Spack, we’re repurposing this list for announcements only.

Only maintainers are able to post, but nothing about your subscription to the list is affected. We’ll still announce releases and telcons here.

For (very active) Spack discussions, join us at these other venues, if you’re not there already:

We also recently added access via Matrix for users who don’t want to use Slack, but we are working on getting the bridge to Slack working again:

All of the above links are now in the list description and in the emails that are sent to new list subscribers.  Feel free to email me directly with questions or comments about this change.
