I would like to get Oath to the table but it is a campaign game - sort of. How a game ends determines the starting state of the next game and so there may be games where you know you are not going to win but can set yourself up for the next game. Because of this it is probably best with the same group. I think it would take about 3 plays to figure out if it is something we would play very often, each play about 2 or 3 hours.
So if you think you are interested in committing to 3 games, let me know. If you want more info about Oath, I am putting some links and a short description of the game below.
In Oath, you are either the leader of the kingdom or you are trying to bring down the current regime and replace it with “something better”. I have heard it described as a cross between Root and Game of Thrones. This is very much a conflict game: you raise armies, make deals, break deals and generally try to maneuver the game state to give you the win. During your turn you will take actions, both standard actions and actions on cards; cards are both on the board and in your tableau. They actions themselves are not difficult but how they interact can be complex.
This is a unique game and hard to describe; I don’t think there is anything quite like it.
