Hey everyone,

I will be a Spring 2013 Intern starting Jan. 7th. I graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston MA just recently and will be working with the Production group.

I love to play tennis (I played for WIT) and within the past year I got really into rock climbing. Can't wait to meet everyone!

Hi All,

I'm a Spring intern starting January 7th in production. I go to Oregon State University and am currently working on my masters in mechanics.

My free time is spent mountain biking and fixing up cars.

Are you guys staying at the Oakwood Apartments or did you make other living arrangements?

Hey everyone,

My name is Arwin and I'll be starting March 11th as a production intern. I'm currently in my master's final year of Industrial Engineering & Management at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands (I was born in California but raised in the Netherlands).

I love to read and hang out with friends, enjoying a movie or going out. I'm really looking forward to start at SpaceX and having an amazing time with all of you!

Regarding living arrangements: I might share a condo with a friend of mine, but that's not entirely certain yet. Otherwise I think I'll be staying at Oakwood as well.

See you soon!

I'm Tyler and I'm currently finishing up my Masters program in Aerospace Engineering at USC out here in LA. I'll be starting on January 14th in the boost propulsion group. My two main hobbies at the moment would be snowboarding and playing guitar. I plan to hit the local slopes as much as I can this season, so if anyone ever wants to do any skiing or boarding I'd definitely be up for it.

I won't be staying in the Oakwood apartments because I already have a place in LA (since my school's out here), but I look forward to meeting you all at the office in January!

January 7th in the avionics group and I just can't wait to join you

I'll probably be staying at the Oaksdale apartments, and plan to go slack-lining on the beach whenever I get a chance. I used to row for my college so I'll be joining a rowing club too, so if any of you want to go row,  slack-line, play foozball or check out LA let me know!

Looking forward to meeting you all =D

Hi everyone!

I'm a University of Minnesota junior in computer science joining SpaceX as an avionics intern in flight software!  I'll probably be staying in Oakwood apartments.  Very excited!

I think robotics is cool, and I have a few ongoing projects for kicks. (Speaking of robots, anyone want to build on a quadcopter or something?)  I also like ultimate frisbee a lot.  And flying!  Depending on how things go, I may try to get some training hours under my belt this spring.

Looks like I'll be starting in late January (the 28th).

Looking forward!

Hey everyone!

My name is Jack Vargas and I'm an Industrial and Systems Engineering student at the University of Florida. I will be starting at SpaceX in January 14th in Production with Avionics.

As of now, I will be bringing a car all the way from Florida, which sounds like a pain but from past experiences its worth it! My interests and hobbies are playing guitar, music, running, reading, astronomy (of course!), snowboarding (don't get to do it much in Florida), and other outdoor stuff.

One of my main goals this Spring is learning to surf! So if anyone else is interested or already knows how we should make that happen! Also, I'm pretty sure I'll be living in Oakwood apartments.

I'm so stoked for getting out to L.A. and meeting all of you. Have a good break!

Jack

Whadup everyone,

I'm Kevin Wollscheid, a junior Industrial & Systems Engineering student from Bradley University in Illinois.

I will be working with the Production group, starting January 28th and running through the summer.

I'm usually up for doing just about anything outside of work, as long as it doesn't involve talking about work... I like to go out on the weekends, snowboard, play basketball, mountain biking, anything really.

I'll be living in the provided housing at least for the 30 days, but looking to make moves outta there to save some cash afterwards. I will also be driving out there, I enjoy a good adventure on the weekends and a car is a big help.

Looking forward to meeting everyone, good luck on finals for those that it applies to, and safe travels!

I already have 5 hiking/camping trips planned to places around Los Angeles, and it sounds like some of you guys might be interested in joining me (or me joining one of you, if you happen to have better plans). I made a google group for those of us who are interested to make plans and share pictures and stuff, so if that sounds like your cup-a-tea, send me a message and I'll invite you to the group!

Hello all,

I'll be starting with the avionics group on January 14th. I'm a Junior studying MechE and EE at MIT. If I can find a decent new bike out in California I'm all about single track mountain biking. I'm still debating whether to bring my car back (since I just drove it here to the east coast this semester), but regardless I'm planning on making many weekend trips to do with any of the following: mountain bike, camp/fish, rock climb, snowboard, or generally anything that sounds like it could be fun. Being a resident of California for my entire life (inland) I feel somewhat ashamed, so I also am planning on learning to surf.

I am most likely going to live in Oakwood or nearby to utilize the shuttle to work, so I am looking for a room mate. I'm a hard working kid when I have to be, but love to have fun on my own time. If you are interested hit me up.

Wish everyone a great end of the semester and looking forward to leaving my mark on Hawthorne with you guys!

My name is Tommy, and I am a 5th year computer engineer at Georgia Tech.  I'm graduating this semester, and interning for the launch operations group at Vandenberg Air Force Base.  I'll be going back to graduate school next fall, so I'm applying to schools now.

I definitely plan on taking advantage of being in California.  I'll have my car, so I'm planning on making trips to L.A. and San Francisco at some point.  In my free time, I enjoy going to concerts, playing sports, and doing pretty much anything outdoors.    I'm starting Feb 4th, and I'll be working for 3 months.

If there's interest, we can start a separate list for the Vandenberg interns.  Just reply to me directly.

I'm a senior at GeorgiaTech in CS and ME. I play a little acoustic guitar (thinking of bringing it over) so we should jam!

I also love board and videogames, as well as soccer, tennis and golf (thought I don't think I'll be bringing my clubs). If people are planning outdoor trips on weekends I'd love to join, though I'm unlikely to take the initiative to plan my own trip. I'll be staying at Fountain Park with a friend, but naturally there's room for 2 more. If you're looking for roommates and enjoy games/music, let me know! I'll be turning in my housing form soon and it'd be great to have a couple more names to jot down.

Hey guys,

I'm going to be starting at space-X on January 21st, and oh boy do I have plans.

A little bit about me: I'm a junior MechE at UIUC, and I'm from the chicagoan suburbs. I like most sports, and I too need to learn how to surf. I'm going to be staying at Fountain Park for at least the first month, but I would like to get together with some of you to get an apartment in the area, if that interests anyone.

Spring can not come soon enough.

Hey everyone,

Looks like I'm a little late to the party. Google groups locked me out for a bit.
Anyway, I'm a Sophomore at Northeastern University studying EE, and I'll be starting in Avionics on January 14th.
I'll be living at fountain park at least for the foreseeable future, and I'm down to go hiking, camping, skiing, or anything in the outdoors. I've heard that a bike might be the best way to get around, so I'll probably ship mine out.

I've been listening to a lot of electronic music lately, and I'm not a musician, but I'm a big music fan in general and I'd always love to go see a show or something.
I'm also always working on something, so I'd be willing to work on a project with anyone who's interested. I know someone mentioned a quadcopter and maybe a near-space balloon.

I'm looking forward to meeting and working with all of you. I've never been to CA but I hear great things and I can't wait to get out there.

Hi everyone,

I’m a little late to the party as well, finally finished my undergrad and internship so I finally have time. I will be graduating this Friday with a bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Central Florida. I will be flying to California the 4th of January and start work the 7th. I will be working as a propulsion intern for the propulsion design group.

I have read everyone’s emails and I’m interested in doing everything listed, I played about every Intermural sport here at UCF and just got my open water scuba certification as well. That being said I will most likely be down for anything, I really just want to explore California and plan on going skiing/snowboarding multiple times. I’ve never been to Vegas so I’m planning a trip there as well , so let me know if you’re interested.

Wish you all happy holidays and safe travels, see you all soon.

Hi Guys,

How are you all doing? I am late for the response too. Sorry about it.

I used to live in california for a couple of years and I did my undergrad at UC Irvine, 40 mins drive from SpaceX.

So, for people who have not been to LA area, I can help on finding good restaurants since I'd like to eat so many different food. I will start my internship at RF&FPGA group on Jan 7th and I hope everyone will have a safe holiday.

See you guys soon in LA.

Have a good day

Hey guys,

As I haven't lived on U.S. soil since I was 2 years old, I'll need to take care of several basic things such as opening a bank account and getting (six-month's worth of) health insurance. It just occurred to me that you guys are probably the best to ask, so could you recommend me a good health insurance company and bank? Just to give me an idea of what's what.

Thanks a lot! Really excited to see you guys!

Best regards,

Hello Everyone!

My name is Rosie and I'll be graduating from undergrad at the University of Washington Mechanical Engineering Department in march. I'll be starting at SpaceX on March 25 in Structures.

Most of my undergrad has been composite studies on the UW FSAE team. However, I do love hanging with friends. I've never been skiing or snowboarding but have always wanted to learn. It might be too late by the time I make it down to Cali before the snow melts though! In that case, I've always wanted to learn how to surf too!

I was born and raised in Seattle my whole life and this will be the first time I will be away from home for a while. I am really excited to start this internship with all of you and look forward to meeting you guys!!

See you in march!

Hey everyone!

Sorry for my late response to the group. My name is Joe Krause, I am a senior in Industrial Engineering at Purdue and I will be interning with avionics production starting January 14th. I'm originally from West Lafayette (the same town Purdue is in), and I can't wait to experience life outside the Midwest.

In my spare time I like to play sports, go to the gym, and hang out with friends. Does anyone know if there is a gym at the SpaceX facility or near fountain park? It would be great to find somewhere close to work out. I wakeboard a lot, and trying surfing sounds like a blast. I also ski, golf and play tennis. I'll bring my clubs out with me, but I will have to ship my racquet if someone wants to play. Also, Is there still room to get involved with the group going skiing in February?

See you all soon,
Joe

Hi Everyone!

Shoveling for the past 4 hours reminded me of where I will be next
week! So I though I would check in and say hi. My name is Kartik and I
go to Penn State University, and live in Pittsburgh.

I will be moving in on the 5th, into appt#237, if we are roommates let
me know if I should bring anything. If anyone else is starting during
the same time, or has already started, we should go out for food, or
drinks next weekend.

I am planning on buying a bike when I get there and seeing the sights.
I love trying out all the interesting food places where ever I visit,
so if anyone else is also a food maniac let me know.

Looks like this will be a fun spring, from all the plans that everyone
already has. I am down for all the planned events, but I will be a
beginner for all them. Especially looking forward to the board games
and video games!

@joe, I think we get access to a gym at the appts, but it's probably
pretty small.

See you guys soon,

I didn't realize that so many people are from completely out of the

long as I can remember (I play bass guitar primarily).

I'm looking forward to working at SpaceX!
