I am experimenting with 1.7 release by feeding updates to two fedora 16 systems. One (i386) behaves as expected and another (x86_64) does not see any updates from spacewalk however spacewalk side is not showing any abnormalities. Right now it reports 20+ packages needs an update but neither scheduling an update and running rhn_check nor running yum update on a target system results in any updates.

Here is the output of rhn_check -vvv

Have you tried 'yum clean expire-cache' and then re-running either yum update or rhn_check?

I'm having a similar problem.

I've just installed a spacewalk 1.7 server, created the channels, uploaded the packages and registered a client (CentOS 5 i386).

When I run yum on it I see this:

# yum clean all
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, rhnplugin
Cleaning up Everything
Cleaning up list of fastest mirrors

# yum update -v -v
Loading "rhnplugin" plugin
Loading "fastestmirror" plugin

But on the spacewalk web interface I see that the system has 21 updates available and I even schedule a few of them.

It looks like the client isn't able to fetch the rpms from the spacewalk server, maybe I missed a step during instalation?

It appears that taskcomatic is acting up. Someone is running a very old spacewalk told me that taskoomatic must be restarted on a regular basis to force proper /var/cache/rhn/repodata synchronization. However in my case even restart did not result in all repositories to be synchronized so I stopped taskcomatic, deleted /var/cache/rhn/repodata and started it again. Process may take a while, after 10 min only 4 channels have been recreated.

Where can I read about taskomaitc functionality and usage?

Eugene.
