Dear All,

My name is Francisco Gallardo from Spain. Currently I am working as a System Engineer for the NASA's Deep Space Network.

I talked to another Telecommunication Engineer here in Spain that also has experience in the Aerospace sector about this interesting project. We are wondering what kind of international collaboration could we offer to the group due to our experience and knowledge.

Please let us know if someone is interested in discussing how can we find the way to offer support to the Leeward Space Foundation community and collaborate in some project.

Looking forward to hearing from you guys!

Best regards
Fran

Thanks Francisco!

You can also post your message in the Leeward SF LinkedIn group.

What kind of expertise do you and your colleagues have available ?  it looks like you have a lot of experience in radio communication with spacecraft.

At Leeward we are mostly engaged in some smaller theoretical studies.

We plan to present some papers on the lunar elevator at the SPACE conference in Orlando Florida, USA,  20-21 June.

See this web site:

Best regards,

Charles R.

I didn't know I was signed up for this group.

You might be interested in taking a look. Here is a project that can
solve economics problems, energy, carbon and climate.

It's may be a bit over what NASA can think about, unfortunately.

Thank you Charles.

What kind of expertise do you and your colleagues have available ?  it looks like you have a lot of experience in radio communication with spacecraft.

Our expertise is, as you suggested, very Radio Frequency Engineering related. So we have a very interesting experience in RF: Antennas (even big antennas ;-D), DSP, Spacecraft Communication, RF Electronics, RF Systems Eng, Metamaterials...

But also Computing (Spatial processing, some Satellite imagery processing, Wireless Sensor Networks ("Motes". This not only includes designing and coding efficient network protocols but also hardware, because we were also engaged in a case of study of a mote with Satellite communication capabilities, very interesting and promising stuff, by the way...)).

The paper thing sounds very interesting! Are those papers going to be available online in the event webpage?

Can you tell me more about the work you guys are developing? Is it in the webpage? Is it related to materials eng, system eng...?

Best regards
Fran

Hi Keith,

Thanks a lot for the information.

I am checking it out. Is the project about using satellites to collect energy?

Best regards

Is this based on IEEE 802.11{x} ?

By the way, do you have an access to the DSN "Madrid" host country observing time ?

Hi Marshall,

- 802.154. But that does not apply to the Satellite motes.

- No, I don't. I know what you are talking about because I worked during a short period of time in the Radio Astronomy department. But I am afraid I do not have access to that observing time.

Hello everyone,

I just read through the article Keith had linked on space solar power. This reminded me of a space fabrication technology that a company in Washington State is working on. They call it SpiderFab:
