Hello,
first you need to download and install Sozi-extras-media-XXX.zip - extract it to the "extensions" directory inside your local Inkscape folder (~/.config/inkscape/extensions on Linux)
*) (Re)start Inkscape
*) to insert a video choose the Menu "Extensions - Sozi extras - Add video or audio"
*) for mp4 add "video/mp4" as MIME type
*) type in full local path or weblink to your video

in my case i'm not linux user and i use inkscape with liberkey in this particular case the extension files must be pasted in

 yourdrive:\LiberKey\Apps\Inkscape\Data\settings\inkscape\extensions

restart your insksape and that's all

But my understanding was that Sozi had broken free from Inkscape and gone alone.  If that is the case, can someone tell us if Sozi will handle media sometime soon, without having to go through Inkscape?  If so, I would prefer to wait.

Yes. In Sozi 15, there is a separation between the content editor (Inkscape or any other SVG drawing software) and the presentation editor.

For me, video and audio are part of the "content",so there is no plan to add support for audio and video in the presentation editor.

Until video and audio are supported natively in SVG and Inkscape, you can use the Inkscape extension available in the archive Sozi-extras-media-[...].zip from https://github.com/senshu/Sozi/releases

Despite the warning at the top of the page, the indications given at http://sozi.baierouge.fr/pages/tutorial-media.html are still applicable to Sozi 15.

Two files arrived (.inx and .py) and I have them sitting in my 'downloads' folder.  Im not sure where to unzip them?  Im running Windows10 and Inkscape is found inside Windows > Program Files > Inkscape  Where do I go from here to put them?
