Fwd: Volunteer Position - Summer Training Opportunity- Compass Center

Hello!

I am the Volunteer Manager at Compass Center, in Chapel Hill NC.  Our typical volunteer training happens twice a year, the next one occurring in September. I wanted to share a unique volunteer training opportunity occurring this June (starting June 15th) for our Information & Referral Volunteer position. 

In the Information & Referral program (aka I&R), which is still being held remotely at this time, you would be helping to answer our office line, assessing client needs, connecting them to Compass Center services, and making referrals. I&R volunteers are often the first people who clients, prospective donors and volunteers, and the general public interact with. That means you would be responsible for representing Compass Center's first impression and for creating a warm and welcoming environment.

When we eventually go back into the office, you would also be helping to greet clients at the door, make them comfortable, and help with general office tasks. There is no current timeline for when we will be back in the office.

I&R Volunteer position- Summer Virtual Training

I&R volunteers go through a ~23-hour training (virtual live & pre-recorded videos) which will be held in 3.5 hour chunks starting in June 2021 over the course of the month.

I&R volunteers help answer Compass Center's office line (for the moment from home), help sign clients up for Compass Center services, and help resource gathering and client referrals to community partners. 

Shifts are typically 4 hours (9-1 or 1-5pm) Monday-Fridays. We hope for folks to take one shift a week for a 6-9 month period.

Please complete a volunteer application (Online Volunteer Application) and email me, Erica at clients...@compassctr.org by June 1st if you are interested. An informal volunteer screening will be done over the phone prior to training. Limited spots are available.

 

We will be having our core volunteer training starting in September and I will reach out to you again closer to that date. There will be opportunities like training for career/financial counseling, hotline, court advocacy, and support group facilitation, as well as I&R.
