PAID Domestic Violence Court Advocate Internship at Compass Center

Good afternoon,

My name is Madison Burke, and I am the Director of Court Advocacy and Community Response at Compass Center. Compass Center is a non-profit in Chapel Hill, NC that fights against gender-based violence and for economic equality. We provide self-sufficiency services, youth education, and are the state-designated domestic violence agency for Orange County. 

I am writing to share our paid domestic violence court advocacy internship and ask that you share with your organizations. This intern will provide support, crisis counseling, and advocacy to domestic violence survivors, including survivors going through the legal process. It is an excellent opportunity for folks interested in social justice, law, gender-based violence, crisis counseling, anti-racism work, trauma-informed service, and community advocacy. In accordance with public health guidelines during the COVID-19 pandemic, work will be done remotely until conditions allow for safe in-person contact. Compass Center actively encourages diverse applicants to apply.

This internship position is eligible for a stipend of approximately $3700.00 in exchange for a 12 month commitment. The stipend amount is not fixed and is subject to change. Position runs from mid February 2021- mid-February 2022, but start and end dates are flexible. Applications are due on 1/18/21 by 5 pm.
