I'm looking for a social work student (any cohort/program welcome, and macro or direct practice both welcome) to take my place as one of the two Social Work student representatives for the 2021-2022 Student Executive Committee for the Office of Interprofessional
Education (IPE SEC), due to my upcoming graduation.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
-Casually network with grad students from other disciplines
-Participate in planning interprofessional events and initiatives
-(Optional) Help to facilitate interprofessional events and initiatives
-Provide a social work perspective (which, in my experience, the IPE SEC really values)
-Join some professional skill building workshops if you'd like
-Earn a distinction on your transcript and a cord at graduation!
I've found it to be an easy commitment - just a once-a-month meeting for 1.5 hours that recurs based on reps' availability, determined via poll at the start of each semester (it's encouraged to attend as many monthly meetings as you can, but they understand
that reps can't always make it every month), passing along info about IPE events to Sowoso once in a while, and the rest is a choose-your-own-adventure where you decide if and how you want to participate in planning or executing events or initiatives. The
group is friendly and laid-back! I've enjoyed this low-pressure opportunity to gain experience in interprofessional collaborative event planning.
If possible, we would love for the new rep (or anyone who is interested and wants to see what a meeting is like before deciding) to come to our next meeting this Thursday, April 29 from 6-7:30pm so you can get acclimated. After that, the commitment is
May 2021 - April 2022.
