Subject: [nlihcstates] Please Object to three amendments from Senator Coburn
Hi State Partners,
We’ve just learned of three amendments to the Senate THUD bill filed by Senator Coburn that would be harmful.
Amendment # 1754 would harm the Homeless Assistance Grants by excluding all federal funds from being counted as matching funds for McKinney Vento grants.
Amendment # 1755 would prevent resident participation in public housing. The amendment would eliminate a provision of the bill that requires that public housing agencies in certain states to include a resident of public housing on its governing board or to create a resident advisory board.
Amendment #1758 would reduce funding for the Community Development Block grants from $3.15 billion to $2.798 billion.
Please alert your Senators that this amendment would cause significant challenges in addressing homelessness in your state. There is significant concern that this amendment could move forward.
Thanks!
Melissa
