Subject: [nlihcstates] Additional amendments to the Senate bill
Hi State Partners,
Here are two additional amendments from Senator Coburn and a correction to one I just sent:
Amendment # 1753 would improve homelessness program by consolidating programs- it would eliminate the US Interagency Council on Homelessness.
Amendment # 1757 would require HUD to report on legislative options to update CDBG formulas.
Also, please note a correction to Amendment # 1755 that changes the nature of it.
Amendment # 1755 would eliminate a provision of the bill that exempts public housing agencies in certain states from including a resident of public housing on its governing board or create a resident advisory board.
Thanks!

Subject: Amendments to the Senate bill
Hi CHCDF members,
We’ve just learned of three amendments to S. 1243 filed by Senator Coburn.
Amendment # 1754 would harm the Homeless Assistance Grants by excluding all federal funds from being counted as matching funds for McKinney Vento grants.
Amendment #1758 would reduce funding for the Community Development Block grants from $3.15 billion to $2.798 billion.
Amendment # 1755 would prevent resident participation in public housing. The amendment would eliminate a provision of the bill that requires that public housing agencies in certain states include a resident of public housing on its governing board or create a resident advisory board.
There is concern that the Senate majority may be interested in accepting some R amendments in order to gain overall R support for the bill. We need to make sure the amendments are harmful amendments on HUD programs!
If you receive other amendments to share with the group, please feel free to forward them to me and I’ll send them out.
Melissa
