I am planning on doing a workshop with the Computer Science department
at my school (Washington & Lee Univ in Lexington) in the next month or
so. When I figure out details I will let you guys know. It will
probably be during the afternoons on a weekday to get the most student
involvement on my campus. Should we plan something else in the future
for a larger group? How many of us are there?

So far 5 people have joined the mailing list. 1 is in NC, 2 are in the NRV, 1 is in Lexington, and 1 hasn't posted.

I've seen make-ins mentioned on the bigger lists; what are they?

I think I'm the not-posted-yet.

I'm an electrical engineer in the physics dept at UVa (in Charlottesville, VA).  I am an engineering resource for the dept and really anyone within UVa that contacts us.  We got a Makerbot back in November and I finally started assembling it  a week ago.  It is a very slow build for me and my Z-axis rods are bent a bit so I may have some issues there to resolve.  It's a back-burner project so it will take awhile to complete but I am fascinated by it.

I also plan to make use of Arduino and other sorts of inexpensive, open-source tools/hardware/software.  I have not installed it for a project yet but that's also a back-burner activity as well.

I do not see making a weekday event but perhaps something on the weekend scheduled several weeks in advance.  My wife's family lives in Lexington so that would help.

Hey,

My MakerBot should be arriving in a couple of days and I'd love to
attend and maybe figure out a couple missteps to avoid. =)

I'm a partner at a small contract engineering company in
Charlottesville (Heya Stephen *grin*). We do embedded hardware and
software design and are interesting on a) using the MakerBot to
prototype parts and b) possibly adding to capabilities of RepRap and/
or MakerBot.

little rich for my blood :)

I'll be printing Feb. 11th from 12:30-4pm It will be in the Science
center on the Campus of Washington and Lee University. I can send out
directions if anyone needs them. Maybe this will motivate us to try
and do a real meet up and swap stories & tips.
