If you are not aware of this 200 year cycle,  this is your wake up call. Research It.
There are many things you can do to prepare for bad weather. Whether we are entering a long cold spell or not,  we all walk on,  and drive in bad conditions sooner or later.  Be Prepared.
Whatever is ahead,  greenhouses,  Rocket Stoves,  Earth Sheltered Domes and Homes are a good ideas to improve health,  reduce energy consumption, and live more comfortably.

I cover several ideas in these arenas in this series.
Amazingly,  most of them are low tech,  are very effective,  very simple,  and very cheap.

Get some kind of "Slip On & Grip" soles for your boots / shoes.

This sales ad states that 90% of senior accidents forcing them into old folks homes are falls on slippery surfaces.

Need something cheaper quicker, and or easier? No problem.  TOTB: Think Outside The Box!!!
You can use drywall screws. They are great.  They are Free.  Carry a Philips.  Screw them in downward, angled in. Going on ice? Screw them down.  Coming in,  screw them up. I did this for days here during an ice storm.  Worked perfectly!

Auto Socks!!!
They will allow you to drive when nobody Else can that don't have them or good chains.
Prevent Accidents they will. Keep you alive they can.

The best thing about these are that if you can sew,  you can get a roll of bungee, good thread, and you are in business selling them to friends,  neighbors,  the world...
