Asimple way to fix the feature update to windows 10 version 20H2 not installing error is to run Windows Update Troubleshooter. This Windows built-in utility can determine/restart the Windows Update services and delete all the unwanted cached files. Then the error can be fixed during the process.

Step 4: Then the Windows Update Troubleshooter will automatically run. You just need to wait patiently until it stops. Then click Apply this fix and follow the on-screen instruction to finish the process.

For instance, you can upgrade to a larger hard drive, add an external hard drive, free up disk space, and extend/move/resize partitions to obtain more available space for your device. As deleting files or folders in the system drive may make your PC unbootable, freeing up space is not suitable in this case.

Here, the best way to enlarge the system drive is to extend/move/resize the partition. As an all-in-one partition manager, MiniTool Partition Wizard can help you do that with ease. Download and install this program by clicking the button below. Then follow the given steps to finish the operation.

Step 3: In the Extend Partition window, choose a place where you want to take free space from and move the blue block to decide the amount of space you would like to take. Then click OK and Apply to save and execute the changes.

Errors and bug with the operating system can result in the feature update to Windows 10 version 20H2 failed to install issue too. For that, you can run an SFC or DISM scan. Both of them are administrative-level tools that can scan the system for errors and then fix them.

The answer to whether you should install Windows version 20H2 also depends on the currently installed release on your device. For instance, if you are running the version 2003, you can install version 20H2 with minimal to no risks because the two versions of OS have the same core file system.

The update only needs an enablement package to activate the new features delivered in a dormant state on the version 2004 during the development cycle. Hence, the update installation process is fast and painless without reinstallation.

However, upgrading from an older release in the previous year requires a full reinstallation. Additionally, this process may result in plenty of unexpected problems including unknown and known issues, as well as software and compatibility errors.

If you still want to download Windows 10 version 20H2 after learning the above facts, pay attention to the content in this part. You can update to 20H2 via Windows Update, Windows 10 Media Creation Tool, and Windows USB/DVD Download Tool.

A convenient way to upgrade or get Windows 10 without installation is to use a Windows Migration Tool. MiniTool Partition Wizard is such a tool. The Migrate OS to SSD/HD Wizard feature of this program enables you to get Windows 10 version 20H2 easily.

As one of the main Windows 10 version 20H2 problems, the feature update to Windows 10 version 20H2 not installing error is quite confusing. Fortunately, you can solve it with the provided methods in this post.

Hello everyone, I am Jerie from Malaysia currently using CHUWI HI10X Windows tablet. However this machine is still running on Windows 10 version 1909 (OS build: 18363.1411) which is a bit outdated compared to my other windows 10 devices. I could not update to the previous Windows 10, Version 2004 and now unable to update to version 20H2.

I created an WPF application that I am attempting to install on different versions of windows and a variety of machines. On the machine that I have been building the application everything has been fine. I built the .appinstaller file using Pipelines and it installs on my Windows 10 Home - 21H1 build of windows. But I need it to work on my other machine which is a Windows 10 Pro - 20H2 machine. The issue...

When I install the application on 20H2 machine sometimes it will install and launch just fine but other times when I am attempting to update it or install it after I have uninstalled it, the app installer will launch and get stuck in a variety of spots. Sometimes it gets hung up on "Hang on while we get your app's information" and other times it will get to the install or update screen and you can press the update/install but but then it just sits there and says "Getting the system ready for install".

Taking a look at event viewer, sometimes the Microsoft.DesktopAppInstaller_1.16_12986.0. throws an error saying "Application Hang" with the hang type being Cross-process. I don't know if this is a specific issue to 20H2 version of windows or something different. I have looked in AppXDeploymentServer/Operational and there are a few errors related to the AppInstaller like....Appinstaller operation failed with error code 0x80D01001. Detail: Unknown Error.*Appinstaller operation failed with error code 0x80190192. Detail: Forbidden (403)

New Edge installed by default. Windows 10 version 20H2 is the first Windows 10 version to actually include the new Chromium-based Microsoft Edge by default. Previous releases came with legacy Edge, though Microsoft has been automatically upgrading them to the new Edge via Windows Update for the past several months.

Your Phone. If you provide your cell phone number during OOBE (the out of box experience) during the initial setup of Windows 10 version 20H2, the Your Phone app will be automatically added to your taskbar.

In reply to dstrauss:You know, that never even occurred to me that the iPhone USB connection wasn't there in my other systems (all of them Lenovo). Now I have to try at least one to see. I've been using an Android phone for my media player and it's pretty seamless. I just wanted to try the same trick on iOS with a lightning cable. I was disappointed I could only access the photos and videos taken on the iPhone but that, too, has its charms.

Ugh, the Alt-Tab functionality in Windows has been second nature to me for decades. I'm certain Alt-Tab is the "meta" keystroke I use the most. Does that make sense? "Meta" as in not about using letter and number keys to enter content. A major reason I dislike MacOS is that the Alt-Tab behavior is so different (and in general the keyboard support is eccentric). I'm open to having my mind blown by the new feature but I'm well north of 95% certain I will turn it off immediately.

In reply to Kenneth_Burns: Really? It's just the THREE (3) latest tabs. Is that really a big deal? That's just two more than the copy of the browser already there. Just asking. I know for folks like Paul, and some of my colleagues, including them all would be disastrous.

In reply to SvenJ:I think i've mentally tried to switch tabs with alt-tab numerous times because that's just my go to action when going back to the last thing i was looking at. I know you can ctrl-tab to move between tabs, but it's unnatural.

I'll probably hate this, but looking forward to trying it.

In reply to SvenJ:The thing is I never use tabs in browsers. I open new pages in new browser windows, mainly because that works better with Alt-Tab. I actually just realized that, or re-realized it. This has been my habit with browsers for so long that I forgot why I started doing it.

In reply to Kenneth_Burns: I like that we are getting options for default behaviors, this used to be one of the major differentiators for windows. It may have been better not to change the default behavior, but to bring up a notice or something informing you of the new options.

Isn't its predecessor, Windows 10 version 2004 supposed to be the Windows 10 version released in the fourth month of 2000? (I know how it turned out.) Making the target the first half, or second half, pretty much assures they won't hit that.

I like that ALT-TAB change, so much of my work is in a browser, and switching between browser tabs as if they are apps makes a lot of sense to me. And since it's configurable, it's the best of both worlds depending on preference.

It is time to let go of the 2 a year updates. You could have rolled the start menu refresh out like they do the search UI. No one would have noticed. As for the rest, all of those could and should have waited.

Just a quick note that the 3 tabs for Edge are for all open windows. So if you have more than one open windows (or one open profile, which by definition is a new open window), then you get 3 TIMES the number of windows in alt-tab. So where I have a window open for myself and my work profile, I have 6 tabs show in alt-tab.

I'll have to see how I feel about the 3 most recent Edge tabs in alt+tab once I get the update and start using it. But theoretically it could fulfill one of my biggest wish-list items for Edge (and other Chromium browsers), which is the ability to ctrl+tab through browser tabs in most recently used order (as opposed to the order in which the tabs appear in the tab bar). If I'm working in Edge, this would allow me to keep alt+tabbing back and forth between two browser tabs, right? That might be good.

One of our developers got his development host machine updated to the 20H2 version of Windows 10, and after that happened the developer was no longer able to get step 4 above to work. Windows wasn't loading the Google USB driver when u-boot enumerated the USB gadget associated with Fastboot anymore. The obvious symptom was that Windows never "discovered" the new device when it was connected to the system.
