Hello Weekly!

I am helping out with this year's Best of the South Side issue, and will be the new first point of contact to answer any questions. This is also probably one of many emails you have received or will receive about BoSS—sorry about that!

This email is for writers who are interested in being assigned pitches for Best of the South Side. If you are only interested in writing pitches from neighborhood captains, please respond to this email letting me know and with what neighborhoods you'd like to write for, or if you're fine with being assigned from any neighborhood. Because we're trying to keep the schedule as tight as possible this year, I will be directly assigning most Best of the South Side pitches to people who respond to this email. This goes for new writers, writers who have been with us for years, masthead, and everyone in between: if you are interested in being assigned pitches for BoSS, please respond to this email and let me know.

The assignment process will happen from the middle of September to likely early October.

If you are not familiar with the format of Best of the South Side, you can find the last few years here:

Please email me at sam.st...@southsideweekly.com with any questions. Also, in case you have missed previous emails, if you are interested in serving as a neighborhood captain for any of the following neighborhoods, please also email me:
  • Auburn Gresham
  • Calumet Heights
  • Clearing/Garfield Ridge
  • Hegewisch
  • Little Italy/University Village
  • Mount Greenwood
  • North Lawndale
  • Riverdale
  • Tri-Taylor
  • Washington Heights
  • West Elsdon

Thank you

Sam
