Hi, Weekly,
Thanks to everyone who helped out with our Holiday issue — make sure to pick up a copy today or tomorrow! We're off till January, but we do have a couple events coming up over the next week or two that we'd like to cover (either for our first January print issue or online, whichever makes sense).
The first: Chicago Votes, an organization that advocates for voting rights in Chicago, is holding a fundraising concert called Give a Gift. Chicago Votes does a
lot of cool work — this year they worked to pass SB2090, which allows incarcerated voters to vote at Cook County Jail — and this piece would talk about both the work they've done and
this concert, which has a pretty great lineup. The concert is December 11th at 6pm, at Emporium in Wicker Park.
The second: the Hyde Park Historical Society is
hosting a retrospective of the work of former Hyde Park Herald photographer Nancy Hays, the first time her work has been exhibited since her death in 2007. The exhibition runs through December 31st, and will be open to the public on the 21st of this month.
As always, if you're interested in claiming either of these pitches, email me (
samuel...@gmail.com) and I'll connect you with an editor.
-Sam
