Thanks to everyone who came out for planting day on Saturday, and to the people who helped prepare and set up (you know who you are.) It was great to see so many new faces, and so much planting energy.
Luckily we have rain in the forecast this week. As the weather dries up, please make an effort to water your new plants and trees -- they will need your help! If you can buy some mulch for your tree pit, that would help keep moisture in the soil. Undyed shredded cedar mulch is great. It's usually available at Natty Garden on Washington Ave.
If you have a young street tree - there are several on the block - remember that they need 20 gallons of water a week! Here's a link to more street tree care info from NYC Parks Dept:
