Happy Summer! Hope everyone has plans to sit on a stoop and enjoy the longest days of the year.
We are writing because we’ve noticed that some of the concrete planters on the block are planted with trees that aren’t suited to containers and are damaging the sidewalk beneath them, as well as obstructing pedestrians and/or parked cars. Other planters are too close to the curb or are lopsided.
We are so grateful to the residents who had them installed many decades ago, but it seems like a good time to remove and replace some of the planters.
The Block Association is proposing to remove two planters with yews – at #36 and #20 - as well as the white planter at #52. We would not remove the recently painted planters at #49 or #60 unless the residents are amenable.
If you are particularly attached to one of the planters in front of or adjacent to your home, please reach out to us, or if you have any other thoughts or concerns regarding the planters, please don’t hesitate to email.
Thanks so much and enjoy the weekend.
