Dear Olivia:

Thanks for the message.  Congratulations on your success in establishing an historic district in Holyoke!

Yes, an historic inventory is underway now through a MA Historic Survey and Planning Grant.

I believe that the South Hadley Selectboard will appoint the Historic District Study Committee in January.  Yes, Chris Skelly has provided seven workbooks that will go to the Committee members.

Would you be willing to come to one of its early meetings?  That way, you could explain the Holyoke process to the full Committee, rather than just to me.

Please let me know if you would be willing to attend.  If so, I will relay that message to the Committee and it can discuss its schedule for inviting you at its first meeting.

Sincerely,

Bob Judge

South Hadley Historical Commission

Bob,
The Fairfield Avenue Local Historic District passed by unanimous vote last Dec. 18th with the Holyoke City Council.....whew!! Let’s talk after the New Year. Thanks for your interest.

Cheers.......
Olivia

Hi Bob,

I would love to help South Hadley....but I'll have to get back to you after Christmas about this...We can meet and discuss. Do you have ground work--research? Do you have a historic inventory of the area? Do you have the 'workbook' from MHC ? There are lots of questions! Thanks for the interest!  Let's see what happens next week.

Merry Christmas,
Olivia

Dear Olivia:

I noticed your reference to the Fairfield local historic district.  I remember seeing publicity about it a couple of years ago in “Hello Holyoke” and I have wondered what has happened since.  South Hadley is about to create a local historic district study committee.  I would like to know the result of the Fairfield vote.  Regardless of the outcome, I would be interested in any advice you can provide to us in South Hadley as we start the process. Thanks for your attention.

Good morning Chris,

I'd like to ask Jonathan Feist, Harvard Historical, a question about the Hadley Falls Papers. (Holyoke's founding papers living in Harvard) Can you forward this message to him.

Thanks,

Olivia Mausel
