Hi everyone,

Just a quick note to say there is no Practica this Thursday, February 12 due to Valentango this weekend in Portland. I hope to see many of you there!

PRACTICA UPDATE: Thursday Practica is moving to the Grove Gym in Ashland. Come help us take advantage of the much bigger floor! The first half hour will be an optional lesson focusing on one aspect of tango technique to inspire your practice. There will still be music starting at 7pm for anyone who wants to just dance.

Hi everyone,

What an amazing Valentango! My heart is full of tango joy, even though I am still catching up on sleep. It was so fun to get to share the experience with so many of our southern Oregon tango community members. A huge thank you to Clay Nelson for all his hard work and care in creating a wonderfully thoughtful space for everyone to share their love of tango. Don't worry if you missed it this year, there are more festivals coming up including Burning Tango June 11-14 in McCloud, CA.

This week marks the first expanded Thursday Practica at the Grove Gym in Ashland. Come help us take advantage of the much bigger floor! The first half hour will be a lesson focusing on one aspect of tango technique to inspire your practice. The space is large enough that there will still be plenty of space and music starting at 7pm for anyone who would prefer to skip the lesson. Huge thank you to everyone who reached out about helping us get some speakers. We had a very generous donor offer to share their speakers, so we are all set for sound. Thank you!

DJ Marion: Marion has brought her tango life to Ashland from Paris, where she began DJing in 2012. She is grateful whenever she has the pleasure of playing music for tango events, which gives her the magical feeling of dancing with everyone on the floor at once. She especially loves the way that the variety & complexity of the orchestras and long history of tango gives us the opportunity to create a wonderful diversity of emotions that we get to build together over the course of each night of dancing. One of her favorite tango quotes is “Each tango tells you how to dance it.” She has found the Rogue Valley tango community extremely welcoming and is honored to be able to help keep it dancing!
