My company just picked up the 3D Systems printer line. Should I be a part of this group or would I be ostracized as some corporate shill? Which I probably am.

What goes on at these meet ups exactly?

I can't speak for the folks in Milwaukee [ o:-) ] but you're welcome at our events even if you're a corporate shill.  3D printing has really opened doors across a number of boundaries, one of which is that someone can now have a $600 printer in their bedroom that prints almost indistinguishably from a $50k+ machine in a corporate shill office, so I think some of the boundaries are going to be unified whether the corporate shills or the hackers like it or not.

We take all kinds. ;)

The meetup is about 3D printing. If it's 3D printing related, it's relevant.

That said, I'm personally a fan of open source 3D printing, and
specifically RepRap FFF printing, as that's what I do, but we welcome
anyone interested in the technology.

So join us!

We also love corporate shills who provide food & beverages. ;)

Kidding! As long as you aren't doing an hour long sales pitch and are willing to share your knowledge, we welcome you.

From the thread just prior to the Milwaukee post:

AnTu is hosting another 3D printing meetup at Sector67 (Madison, WI) on this Saturday, 4/27 at 6:30PM - http://www.meetup.com/Madison-3D-Printing-Enthusiasts/

Echoing Chris' sentiments is the sponsor list for the Inside 3D Printing Conference, http://www.mediabistro.com/inside3dprinting/?c=3don3d. 3D Systems was the big sponsor, while Stratasys, MakerBot, MakerGear and others were also sponsors.
