Who would have thought that it's already been seven months since last
CFT? When it was all over all I had on my mind was a hot shower, a
warm bed and access to my email. "Choose Your Own Adventure" was a
grand success and like all times before the power of the furry
community shone through in staggering abundance to see it out as our
best year ever! The food was fantastic, the dance parties were just
the right kind of awkward, the water was as swimmable as ever and the
new showers were pretty nice! Some of my favorite memories include of
course Davey's birthday party, the games tent, the water fight, the
awkward dance party, battle of the brightest, and above all else,
roving packs of musicians. I couldn't have been more pleased with how
well covering the outhouse walls with butcher paper and letting people
draw all over them went, to boot.
Our theme this year is 'Keep Furry Weird'. Both a slogan adapted from
one of our state's bigger cities and a way of life, it's the
eccentricities and absurdities that helps us all stand off as more
than just a collection of fans. It's our willingness to redefine
ourselves, revoke the mainstream standard of operations and express
ourselves creatively that lets us be a unique sprawl of fuzzies. With
a good number of experienced and creative staff, we're looking to
actively immerse you all in the world of the weird and invite you to
bring the things that make each and every one of you weird in your own
special way. <3
With this new year comes bigger and better plans. One of which is the
adoption of 'Theme Camps' straight from the pages of Burning Man and
the elimination of the Sandbox. What does this mean for you? Instead
of camping next to the action in a large empty sprawl, the creative
Happenings that help define our festival will be immersed directly in
the middle of our camps, and our camps will be expanded to cover
larger areas to give people the ability to spread themselves out a
little more. You can now host Happenings right at your camps, hold
parties (camps zoned for noise of course), host a specific group of
people (community recruiting anyone?) and of course, increase creative
involvement of the furry community as a whole. Check out our FAQ
(

discussion/) for more info.
What happenings are looking to be brought this year so far? We're
definitely looking at the return of Battle of the Brightest and the
Awkward Dance Party, a watergun fight, camp-wide variety show,
Scruffy's 'Breakfast of Champions' alcoholic breakfast bonanza (21+
only), card game tournaments, ice cream social, shadow puppet charades
and more. To help with the planning, or to submit your own plans for
how you want to help keep furry weird, check out our Happenings Forum.

What else is there? We got registration open on time this year and the
numbers are already starting to roll in. We've unfortunately had to
raise registration cost again to match economic inflation and to be
able to further provide all the utilities and comforts you all have
come to expect. With our adjusted formatting in staff we're able to
increase our cap this year to 170 attendees to match our expected
growth. Come late April you can expect to see a posted invite for our
first community meeting where our community outreach can continue to
try to strengthen the relationships of the furry groups across the
state, and finally, stay alert! A CFT party is in the works and you
can expect to get details on the future!
Get to the forums, check out the new site and policies, get
registering, and of course, tell your friends! CFT is only five months
away!
