The draft RUS for Sussex has been published for consultation. See
http://www.networkrail.co.uk/browseDirectory.aspx?dir=%5CRUS%20Documents%5CRoute%20Utilisation%20Strategies%5CSussex&pageid=2895&root

There is very little mention of East Coastway at all, and it seems
that a great deal of the strategy has already been decided by the
Brighton Main Line changes.

I have looked at this and while it is true that there is much more
focus on Brighton and the Rehill corridor the Eastbourne and Seaford
routes are specifically included within the scope of the review so it
is important that we respond, both individually and collectively. I
have been in correspondence with Morman Baker about this and he also
feels that it could be useful. I have also contacted Chris Burchell at
Southern and suggested that a face to face meeting with Southern East
Coastway Commuters group would be a good idea.

I totally agree that there has been a reduction in posting recently. I think that people fear that nothing can be achieved which I do not believe.

I will be posting this evening a set of Documents I have been given by the District Councillor for Plumpton Tom Hawthorne. He and I are having a short meeting after the elections next week to discuss a strategy that we as a small community can take. Naturally I will keep the group posted.

It is my belief that the DfT is to blame and that they were perhaps misguided and allowed pressure from Brighton MP's to prevail.

After we abandoned anything other than just posting on hear it seems little point posting.
I know one or two of you have been active but we seem to have lost any momentum.
What happened to the various roles being set up?

On a slightly optomistic note I do like the new trains on teh London Bridge/Eastbourne route that they have "Gatwick Branded" which of course are shorter but are really comfortable. it doesnt excuse the usual short train at 5.22pm which now means I work an extra hour to make the Gatwick branded train ...which seems less full.

I have a feeling the only way ahead is to have a "voice" ...someone who can portray our view to MP's and radio stations on a one to one basis rather than through letters....that we all support.

Welcome all your views...btw I vote for Berni for that!

Nor does it seem to mention any consideration of the future South Downs
National Park, which will surely have an impact on passenger numbers to
Lewes and Eastbourne.
