[sebc] South End Block Club Meeting Agenda for August 13th, 2009 [DRAFT]

Greetings!
Residents of Hamtramck living south of Holbrook St. are highly
encouraged to attend the next meeting of the South End Block Club
almost a week from now, on Thursday, August 13th, at 6:30PM. Meetings
are held at:
People's Community Services
Hamtramck Neighborhood Center
8625 Joseph Campau St.
(Near Secretary of State Branch Office and across the street from
Veteran's Memorial Park)
Friends and neighbors are welcome to attend.
Future General Meetings:
* September, 10th
* October, 8th
* November, 12th
* December, 10th
* January 14th, 2010
Proposed Agenda for August 13th Meeting:
Guests, Presentations, or Announcements:
* Arif: There will be a polite introduction speech that reminds
the audience of the purpose of the block club and to keep the
discussions focused on issues that effect the SEBC's neighborhood and
more importantly, focus on actions that are currently within ability
of the block club to enact.
Old Business:
* Arif and Louis will present documents about previous block clubs
and block club associations that existed before the formation
ofHCI:W&S. This is to help determine if the SEBC is a continuation of
a group that has existed for at least a decade, or if not, that this
is a new organization initiated the HCI:W&S. Article will be written
for The Review also calling on neighbors to come to next meeting
concerning this.
* Beverly Tran has a presentation about her visits with other
Wayne County block clubs.
* Beverly or Laurie have their presentation about feasibility
Block Party. (Verify if block party committee reported on feasibility
having one. If that was tabled last meeting. have Beverly Tran do a
report.
* Announcement about the need of a Vice President (Election next
meeting or wait till bylaws are enacted).
New Business:
* Call to vote to adopt rules about Minutes (Have handout and
quick review instead of reading whole document.)
* Louis will present a proposal to have a September graffiti clean
up. (Needs to be after Ramadan, late September.)
* Arif will present a proposal Block Club Dinner fundraiser to
observe upcoming Ramdan holiday.
* Arif will present a proposal to have a Singles Night/Social some
time in October on a Saturday.
* Arif with Guests: There are block club members that lost their
drive way due to city maintainence on their street. They are seeking
support to regain their driveways.
* Arif will make an annocunement for the need to start planning
for assistance with Angel Night vigils, to prevent arson around
Halloween weekend, via CB Radio patrol.
Tabled for Following / Future Meeting:
* Suggested that we adopt the Veteran's Park, making an effort to
keep it clean.
* Self Defense Classes have been requested by Cathy Gordon (two
meeting so far), and Officer John Aiello had suggestions and offers
concerning classes. Beverly Tran said there was an initiative. Tabled
because of insurance issues.
