[sebc] SEBC August 13th Meeting & 2009 Labor Day Festival

were unexpectedly made unavailable for the organization.
President Arif Huskic and Secretary Louis Privette decided to conclude
the meeting shortly after 7pm, rather than relocate, as many members
and visitors already left the site before keys could be made
available.
Agenda items for this meeting were moved the the following meeting, on
September 10th.

Officers of the South End Block Club want thank all our guests and
visitors for attending and give apologies to those who contributed
their time to come to a meeting that ended up not taking place.
The People's Community Service Center was contacted concerning the
building being closed and officers not being forewarned, despite the
meeting having been scheduled well in advance and recently followed up
upon.

Louis,
I am very sorry that the center was closed for your meeting. I
very much apologize for it. Yesterday we had a retirement party for
Jackie Byrd who has been with us for 26 years. I made a decision to
close the center and did not check to see if there was another group
which had reserved it. We are very committed to making block clubs
work for the residents of Hamtramck and it is frustrating to have this
happen. We will work hard to make sure this does not occur again.
Please extend my apologies to your president and membership.

SEBC Officers now have multiple means of acquiring entry to the
facility at their disposal, should the facility become unavailable
again in the future.

Hamtramck Labor Day Festival 2009:
Hamtramck Police Sargent Wally Tripp, also the Community Policing
liaison for the Hamtramck Community Initiative Weed & Seed, is looking
for SEBC volunteers to help with the dunking booth at the Hamtramck
Labor Day Festival (Specifically on Sunday, Sept. 6th for the SEBC).
Please contact Wally at sgttr...@yahoo.com to be scheduled to get
dunked. :)

Also as a reminder, despite what was listed in the the last couple
issues of local paper, The Review, SEBC General Meetings are held on
the 2nd Thursday of each month. This error should be correct as of the
newest issue.
