Fellow Compatriots:

In the light of your encouraging response to our recent “Hon. Gbala’s Letter” on our dual citizenship, exploratory proposals, and the now Dual Citizenship First Anniversary Celebration scheduled here with Counselor Varney Sherman as Keynote Speaker, I write to remind you of the thinking of several Liberians holding key public policy positions with respect to a “possible” dual citizenship in our country.

This is just a reminder, because it is Foreign Minister Ngafuan’s suggestions advanced in a speech to the 39th Assembly of ULAA in Minnesota, USA, but with our Commentary here in Liberia.  It is herewith attached.

Kind Regards,

Bai M. Gbala, Sr.

After having moderated his stance, Old man Gbala has now decided to put both of his toes in his mouth and is becoming increasingly annoying.

He writes: "Since 1847 and throughout the history of Liberia, governnance and public administration have remained highly centralized and controlled by institutions and structures of the central state and dominated and controlled by dual citizens, a practice which has not allowed adequate opportunities for the establishment of a system of participatory local governance..."

This is as dangerous as it gets.  It is not ineptitude, corruption, nepotism and a war led by greedy, wicked politicians of all stripes that have led our country to where we are today, but dual citizenship?  Dual citizenship have not allowed for adequate opportunities for the establishment of a system of participatory local governance? It is my first time hearing this sort of attack on dual citizenship especially knowing and given the context in which this right is being sought.

Damn, there seems to be no redemption in this man!
