Press Release
Brooklyn Center, MN December 16, 2013

Grand Gedeans in Minnesota go to the poll to elect Board members of GGAA-MN Chapter on Sunday December 8, 2013 ( Liberian Weekend off). Hundreds are expected to turn out for the first time in the history of the organization. Unlike previous elections, Grand Gedeans are nowadays sensitive to electing people that will not live up to the expectation of GGAA-MN Chapter in providing services to the most needy citizens of the county in the diaspora, Grand Gedeh County/Liberia, etc.

The deadline was extended for all candidates for what the Chairman calls " flexibility for unity." Earlier, the Chairman told Grand Gedeans that he was going to allow elections up to the election date. "I have to maintain my promise to the membership of GGAA-MN Chapter." Weah said.

Those who hope to bring a change on the Board when elected are the below certified candidates:

1.    Ms. Vivian Wright
2.    Ms. Oretha Quaye-Caward

11.  Pierre Collins (Treasurer position)

A one and half hours debate among candidates will focus on but not limited to:

1.    The Fiduciary Duties of the Board V The Role of the Executive Committee;
2.    Social services to Grand Gedeans living in Minnesota;
3.    Youth and Elders’ Projects/Programs;
4.    Community Outreach/Networking;
5.    Health and education : The Plight of Grand Gedeans back home;
6.    Unity, Peace and Development and Fundraising;
