Here's an opportunity to host a workshop for your community. It seems
like the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability will do most of the
work if a neighborhood will do some of the organizing. Let me know if
you're interested and if there's anything I can do to help with
putting on an event.

Hello!
Is your neighborhood looking to increase its home energy efficiency?
As a representative of your neighborhood association, I am writing to
you with a collaborative opportunity—and it’s all FREE!
Here at the City of Portland Bureau of Planning and Sustainability
(BPS) we are committed to helping the community both learn how to
become more energy efficient in their homes and daily life—and in
turn, helping limit our impacts on the natural environment.
We offer a two part workshop to community members focused on simple
and low-cost ways to help increase their home’s energy efficiency. The
workshops are about two hours long and I’ve included the agenda for
the Home Energy IQ workshops part I and II for you to get a better
idea of what the workshop entails.
What BPS is offering our neighborhood partners:
· A City of Portland representative to facilitate the workshops
and make themselves available for questions, etc.
· Workshops full of home energy efficiency information where
you can learn:
· Practical, specific, low-cost ways you can conserve energy
using simple tools and changing habits
· How to track your home energy use and create an Action Plan
to set your goal.
· Ideas to team up to save energy with friends and family
· Where energy goes, from biggest to smallest uses
· The City's goals for saving energy and reducing CO2 emissions
to address climate change.
· Plus each participant receives a free Energy Toolkit that
includes:
· “Cut Your Energy Bills Now” book—a step-by-step how to guide
· Compact fluorescent light bulb
· Thermometer to check and adjust temperatures
· Water-saving showerhead, faucet aerators, kitchen faucet
finger control
· Shower timer
What BPS is looking for in our neighborhood partners:
· A venue to facilitate the Home IQ workshop I and II.
· Outreach to SE Neighborhood through inclusion in your
newsletters, e-mails, web, and other social media applications, etc.
· A commitment to confirm at least 10 community members to
attend.
· Point person to liaison with City of Portland Bureau of
Planning and Sustainability representative. This person will help
shore up details of venue and outreach.
