Elizabeth Halsey "Libby" Hyland GOOSE CREEK –
Elizabeth "Libby" Halsey Hyland, 84, of Goose Creek, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 05, 2014. Libby was born on September 25, 1929 to Ben Rogers Halsey and Edith Reedy Halsey in Norrisville, MD. In 1955, Libby married her longtime childhood friend, Don F. Hyland. They spent 57 wonderful years together until he passed away two years ago.
In addition to taking care of her husband and children, she worked as a substitute teacher and kindergarten aide in the Berkeley County School System. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Goose Creek. More than anything, she loved volunteering her time and love to all she met. She never met a stranger and always had a kind word for everyone with whom she came into contact.
She is survived by three daughters, Libby (Roger) Adams, Mary Frances (Gene) Tracy, Donna (Joe) Mabe; one son, Danny (Frances Thomas) Hyland; seven grandchildren, Chris (Eileen) Adams, Emily (Thad) Bostian, Russell Tracy, Lara Tracy, Mitchell Tracy, Danielle Hyland, Christina Mabe; five great-grandchildren, Harlan Adams, Benjamin Adams, Michael Bostian, Emma Grace Bostian and Aaliyah Thomas. She is also survived by one brother, Bill (Mary Ann) Halsey, and one sister, Frances (Frank) Detweiler. In addition to her husband, Libby was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Johnny Crewey. She was a wonderful Christian woman and had many friends that will miss her dearly.
Visitation will take place on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. in Carolina Memorial Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. in Carolina Memorial Chapel.
