Subject: Prayers for Dan Huff
Please remember Dan in your prayers. He had an accident Tuesday and is
in critical condition at MUSC ICU.
He was helping a friend cut a tree down and it rolled, hit him in the
head and went to the ground with him. Friend couldn't pushed him
totally out of the way and tree landed on right side of head. He was
medivac to MUSC from our home town (Greeleyville). Had to do surgery
Tues night to relieve pressure on brain when they could no longer get
any response from him. Drain tubes put in and portion of skull bone
removed was placed in his stomach lining to keep it fresh when ready
to put back. Brain could then swell out of the opening if needed. His
brain was also bruised in temporal lobe area and a portion of it
removed. Started responding again and got back to same response that
had when he checked in.
Most, if not all, bones in face are broken. All bones around right
eye broken and eye muscle hanging up on fracture. Cannot work on it
due to swelling as well as not risking damage since that is his only
eye now (blind in other eye in a separate accident). Put 60 stitches
around eye and mouth/lip which was torn away from jaw. Skull fracture
and laceration on back of head fixed with staples.
Since that first day, he was very swollen and that is going down
alittle. His BP has been up/down as well as his temperature. On a
ventilator. He is critical and doc said it would be a long road to
recovery and all would be baby steps.
Tonight, he was trying to open his eyes and blinking slightly. I also
asked him to raise his leg if he could hear me and he did!! I am not
leaving the hospital as long as he is in ICU. Chris is staying with
me. He has been such a blessing!
Please remember him in your prayers! I am posting on FB. I am
telling everyone that "no news is good news". It has been kinda
hectic. He is going to need lots of love and support and everyone's
prayers to get thru this.
I will update when there are changes.
Thanks!
