Hi, I am just messaging as it is nice to see that there are more
competions on now between May and September as last year this was not
so, there was nothing on apart from camp and teams and I and others
felt like we were misssing out, as this is when everyone wants to get
out and when the weather is usually better in order to do this, it was
brought up in the AG meeting and I am glad to see that we have been
lissened to and that now there is more on. However I would like to see
more variety in the type of competions which are on, as we only ever
do dressage and show jumping, I think that due to it being summer its
the perfect opertunity to add more outdoor competions such as hunter
trails starting from 2f3, and showing show with manly riden class in
things such as riden cob, working hunter, equitation, riding club
horse etc and possibly even the odd one day event starting at 2f3 in
order to let everyone have a go. I know that Natwich and other riding
clubs in the area allready do this and having been to one of Natwich's
I can say that they are very popular and that I think we are missing a
trick by not doing this. I would also like more training clinics in
show jumping and cross country of a weekend, as I feel like I missed
out with the bret kenyon ones, as I really wanted to do it. Anyway it
would be nice to here other peoples opions on this, hope to here some
support for the ideas too. Frances.

Hi Frances

Thank you for your words of encouragement over the summer
competitions. We as a committee have tried to take on board what
members have been requesting so it is nice to get some positive
feedback. On the subject of other competitions particalarly ODE and
hunter trials these do take alot of organising and unfortunately just
at the moment the committee doesn't really have the manpower to
organise such an event. However I do take your point and I do think
this is worth pursuing perhaps for next year. In addition to the extra
competitions we are plaaning to hold a fun ride followed by a barbeque/
picnic some time in August for SCRC members.

Regarding you query on XC training there is going to be an area clinic
at Llanymynech on July 18 with Sarah Warner. This will be in the
format of 2 sessions, xc technique over show jumps, a break then
tuition over the xc course. Cost is set at 15 per horse and there is
to be 6 in a group. This is not being organised by SCRC but is open to
SCRC members. Ther are a few places left so if you are interested let
me know and I will email you the details.
