Hi There,

I'm planning to use the off season to learn a little bit about navigation. I took Mark Manning's class last summer, but have never practiced it.  I have his notes and a compass...but, unfortunately I've forgotten most of it!

So, if anyone wants to get lost on a trail with me :-) I'm considering doing this BAOC event to practice!  I'd love company.  I don't mind walking or running, I want to spend time with the map and use the compass some, even if it isn't necessary.. You can register day of, so we don't need to decide unti lthe last minute..

Happy Monday,

Faith Pacifico

Hey guys,

I will be more than happy to do a refresher before the event.  They start at 10am so we can connect at 9:30 for a refresher.

I am also planning to be at this event. I'd be happy to take a group out on the course for a non-competitive navigation session. We can cover basic mapreading, shooting a bearing, aiming off, etc.

Also, I have been doing orienteering practice during lunch time on Wednesdays - a short trail run combined with mapreading on Stanford's campus. If anyone is close to Stanford and wants to meet up on any Wednesday around noon there is an open invitation. Let me know.

All,

If Randy is offering any navigation training, I would not miss the event.  Randy is both a scientist of navigation as well as an experienced race navigator.

Hi all,

This Wednesday 10/15 at noon I'm doing a short orienteering session on the
Stanford campus. Very basic mapreading and terrain featuring, maybe some
compass work. I am in recovery mode this week so I'll be walking; not the
usual running session.

Please meet me at corner of Via Ortega and Panama St as seen on this map
(there is a parking structure there - bring some quarters):
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=115419930586570448971.0004592e83343164d75b5&ll=37.432375,-122.179298&spn=0.017243,0.038624&t=p&z=15

Please be prompt at noon - lunch hour duration is limited so we can't
really wait around if you are late.

Thanks!
Randy
