With all of the local and national discussions about removing ancient forest trees, the following webinar may be more important than you think.

What Ancient Douglas-fir of the OSU McDonald-Dunn Forest Can Tell Us
Wednesday, April 8

7:00 – 8:30 pm

With Dr. Meg Krawchuck & Charles Drake, OSU Forestry Researchers

Zoom webinar & recording – Preregistration is required for the live webinar and/or the recording.

Learn how our local ancient Douglas-firs help us understand how past climates and ancestral Indigenous cultural practices, including fire, reflected and impacted the human experience. The understanding of ancient practice can and should become a part of current forest management. Anyone interested in the McDonald-Dunn Forest, ancient trees, local Indigenous culture or wildfire management is encouraged to register for this webinar.

All who register will receive a link to the webinar recording by April 11th, even if you can’t watch it live on April 8th. To watch the webinar and receive the webinar recording, please pre-register through the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library at cbcpl.net/Frenkel2.

The Liz & Bob Frenkel Webinar Series honors two of the Willamette Valley’s most successful environmental activists. The theme of this 3-part series is Listening to the Land.

The co-sponsors are:

  • Marys Peak Group Sierra Club
  • Corvallis-Benton County Public Library
