Does sitting around an octagonal table, chatting and matching wits
with friends sound appealing? Do you like card games? Are you aware of
many of the alternatives to "Texas Hold'em". Then you might like
playing Neighborhood Poker**. Our poker game has been running for 17
years. Participation has varied over time. We expect that between now
and June participation will be lower than we would like. If you would
like to learn more and perhaps give it a try, please call or email
Richard Hervey
(541-250-1070) or Russell Sullivan
(541-754-6636).

Neighborhood Poker - Dealer's choice poker where the secret to winning
is keeping your opponents in a hand long enough to sweeten the pot,
and keeping everyone in the game until quitting time. (Unlike typical
Texas Hold'em games, where the focus is to bankrupt the other players.). The
stakes are nickel, dime, quarter, with a 3-raise maximum. Everyone
throws in ten bucks to get ten dollars worth of chips, and you can buy
more if you run out. In the 17 years, no one has won or lost more than
$25. So you're not going to get rich or poor playing for three hours
once or twice a month. We start promptly at 7:00 pm and end promptly at
10:00 pm. Russell will gladly provide a tutorial for anyone who wants to give it
a try.
