I have just started reading Abraham Lincoln the War years by Carl Sandburg. It starts just before his inauguration. I am amazed almost every page at the similarities between then and now, and what was going on in the country before Lincoln's election leading up to the Civil War. Hopefully we have learned some things since then and it won't come to that point. Mark w
