About 11 months ago I began my term on the Corvallis City Council representing Ward 3. I think it’s a good time to meet, hear what you have to say, and answer questions. This coming Wednesday, December 10th, I will host a Ward 3 meeting at 6:30 pm at Lincoln School. There are a few things to note in preparation for the meeting.

First, the meeting is from 6:30 to 8:00 (not 8:30 as I’ve seen in some posts). We have the room reserved for a bit past 8:00 but we’ll need time to put away chairs so I need to end the meeting at 8:00.

Second, I know there will be a lot of interest in Crystal Lake Drive and the draft South Corvallis Area Plan. I’ve seen some posts that say this meeting is only about that. However, the meeting is open to any topic of interest. I’ll start the meeting by asking what you hope to cover and once we’ve generated a list we can figure out how to manage our time together.

Finally, I’ll be joined at the meeting by city staff who represent areas of interest such as land use planning, transportation, housing, homelessness, and city administration. They won’t be making any presentations - we want to make sure there’s as much time as possible to hear from you - but they will bring some materials relevant to Southtown as well as the technical expertise needed to answer questions accurately and thoroughly.

If you want to contact me please use the email address below. I look forward to seeing you Wednesday evening!

It would be helpful if meeting participants reviewed state house bills 2001 enacted in 2019 and house bill  2138 enacted in 2025. . Also  Oregon pedestrian  law on streets without sidewalks should be understood.  Finally ,  the ADA is a federal civil rights law that  largely dictates sidewalk design.

Links to that legislation:

To find pedestrian law about streets without sidewalks, look at this page and scroll about two-thirds down.

This might be a usable reference on sidewalk design standards.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the links Jay.

From the 3rd one

A bicyclist is not permitted to operate any electric assisted bicycle on a sidewalk. ORS 814.410(1)(e).

Not enforced, eh?
