Dear friends,
SCDCCA is delighted to announce a cultural evening to celebrate the 163rd birth anniversary of Kobiguru Rabindra Nath Tagore. The event will be held on Sunday,12th May 2024 at 6.30 pm at the old clubhouse rooftop. All are welcome to attend.
As most of you would be aware, Rabindra Nath Tagore was a Bengali polymath who was active as a poet, writer, playwright, composer, philosopher, social reformer, and painter during the age of Bengal Renaissance. He reshaped Bengali literature and music as well as Indian art with Contextual Modernism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Author of the "profoundly sensitive, fresh and beautiful" poetry of Gitanjali, he became in 1913 the first non-European and the first lyricist to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. Tagore's poetic songs were viewed as spiritual and mercurial; where his elegant prose and magical poetry were widely popular in the Indian subcontinent. His profound insights into human emotions and his passion for a more inclusive world have made him an enduring symbol of India's rich cultural heritage.
National anthems of three countries – India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have been authored/inspired by Kobiguru Rabindra Nath Tagore.
It is our proud privilege to celebrate the birth of this worthy son of our country.
