As long as you have the OLD Nokia ROM and have no updates, have the IMEI number, do try

This is a UPIN which technically should be requested from your service provider.

This unlock code works. The phone also supports both PUK and PUK2 (8 digit and 10 digit codes), but these are equated to the UPIN's first digit sets if you do the reset.

In the event that this fails, you can do a factory reset. Switch on the Device:
Press (green) [Call] + [*] + [3] together and hold for at least 10 seconds.

That should do a factory reset. All codes are reset to 12345 and come up disabled. The XPressMusic doesn't come with any media encryption software by default, so this should be easy.

Do tell me if this worked, my Nokia is a N95, and has encryption, so it doesn't budge to anything other than a factory reset.

Sir!
I tried to reset the mobile using the key combination, but it is not working. and then i tried using http://www.nokialockcode.com/calculate.php , that also not working.

Any other solution?

Here's how you use the Key combination:
1. Power down the phone
2. Press [Call Answer](green) + [*] + [3]
(Hold for at least 5 seconds)
3. Power up the phone using a power button

Phone undergoes a hard reset and asks for Country / Region details. This works on any OVI compatible Nokia, even an N95 or N97 responds to this hard reset.

The default values for Unlock Codes - in case you should ever run into them, which I think is remote are:
12345 is the PUK
12345678 is PUK2 (which is the one you should use)

If you find holding the keys a bit difficult, here's a simpler shot - but no guarantee it works, or what service it provides.
Use internal Phone PIN bypass service (first is Soft, second is Hard) -- These are bad enough, and might brick the phone, leaving only a bootloader.
*#7370#
[call]
*#7780#
[call]

Give the key combo a shot with the full procedure. Thought you knew how to hard reset phones - keystroke always on power-up.

Thanks for letting me know that that php thing doesn't work, it's probably a harvester, will take care of it.

In the interest of everyone, if you have faulty firmware, if you use this reset, the PUK is reset to "12345678" which is confirmed. But the PIN has to be independently requested from the Service Provider. Setting a new PIN somehow does not have write access on many operator SIM cards, possibly due to hardware security limitations.

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/8368-37-help-blocked -- There's a user comment on this page mentioning clearly that the SIM was unblocked using the technique.

Hard Reset the Phone using the triple key salute at power-on. On models like the 5130 where power is still a soft key, you might have to pull a stunt like pulling the battery out and putting it in.
This does not reset the PIN. This only sets the PUK (Phone Unlock Code) following standard PUK2 to 12345678. This is to unlock a phone that gets locked.
However, if things go really wrong the phone allows you to the next screen after entering PUK2 (as 12345678) - in some older versions this is (00000000) and in certain countries 01234567 - but the first option works in most.
Then you are prompted for a new PIN. At this point, you can enter a new PIN. You are asked to verify the new PIN. Just re-enter the same PIN. If your SIM is not operator locked, your PIN is unlocked [This is never the case.] The new PIN will not seem to work. If you try this more than thrice, the SIM gets locked and that's that, your SIM is no longer usable.

I did this on Siva's phone - and learned a tough lesson. I am very sorry for locking his SIM - I have already offered to read the contact data from the phone and give it to him to load on a new SIM, but that's all I can do here.

If you forget your PIN, please ask your operator to unlock, these keystrokes do not provide a solution. They only help you reset the "Phone Unlock Code" (PUK) which is different from the PIN unlock code.

Normally the PIN is set to a specific SIM card with a particular service provider. If you are going to switch the SIM card to a newer phone, please remove the PIN and then switch. Otherwise, both the phone an the SIM could easily malfunction whenever you enable PIN security.

Hope this helps people avoid the same issue in the future.
